Absolutely! So glad to hear you are interested in helping out or hosting a crafternoon. We want to encourage more events like these to happen in the Westshore communities (or really anywhere in Greater Victoria!) so this is really exciting. Please reach out, and we can help find a venue, collect supplies, promote the event, and get you set up.

Lilypad is a queer and neurodivergent led community, and we welcome everyone to attend our events so long as mutual respect, joy, and allyship is centered as part of your attendance in these events.

Our rule of thumb is if you are comfortable with bringing your kids to a Pride event, you will be comfortable bringing them to a Lilypad event. Please note that we are not a daycare or a summer camp, and as such we welcome kids to come along with their parents or other trusted adults/mentors.

As a local non-profit, we are so grateful when folks want to help support what we are doing in the community. We accept donations both online and in person. We accept craft supplies and tools, and are thrilled when folks spread the word about what we are doing in the community.

Monthly Crafternoons are free, drop-in community events that we host at various locations in the Westshore of Greater Victoria. Generally, we are creating a space for people to craft and socialize together in a casual way. Crafternoons are not formal workshops or lessons, instead they are more like hanging out at a friend’s place while you do something fun with your hands, chat, and eat snacks.

Each month, we choose a craft and provide participants a short tutorial or informal guidance (depending on the skill set required for the craft). Materials and tools are provided for you. We encourage folks of all skill levels to show up - no prior experience is required. You can come alone or with friends, and socialize in a way that is comfortable for you (if you’d prefer crafting quietly on your own and just want to co-exist in the space with us, that’s totally fine!). We also welcome folks who want to work on their own crafts and just hang out, no need to feel pressured to the same craft as us - our founders often bring a second craft to do after they’ve done the main craft.

So sorry that you can’t make it to the Crafternoons yet. Currently we are hosting one Crafternoon a month on Saturday afternoons because that works for our schedules (we all work day jobs as well as running Lilypad), and the main venue we are working with - the Greater Victoria Public Library Juan de Fuca Branch - isn’t open on Sundays. That being said, we do hope to host more Crafternoons or other similar events on different days of the week and at different times in the future.
